Employee Sylvia Milea Passes Away
With her recent passing on January 25 at age 41, Finance employee Sylvia Milea will be sorely missed by her work colleagues at Town Hall. She died after courageously fighting a serious ailment for almost a year during which all her family members devoted their time and consideration to her.

“For the employees at the Town Hall, especially the ones who worked with her daily, it was really devastating,” said Mayor Vera Danyluk recently. “Even now there’s still a big, dark cloud over everything there.”

Since September 1990, Milea worked as an accounts payable clerk in the Treasury and Material Resources department. She leaves behind her husband, Pino Scicilia, her two boys Frank Lee, 14, and Brandon, 12, as well as her parents, her brother, and her in-laws.

In a note, her colleagues stated that “her big heart, her smile, her sense of humour, her kindness and her generosity will forever remain engraved in our memory.”

In the open area where Milea worked, her desk was always filled with photos of her family and of events shared with fellow employees, the mayor added. Many went to her wedding as many went to her funeral services and the funeral itself. “It’s not a family member, but you can see the relationships that were formed during the past 16 years,” Danyluk said.

The emotional impact of her passing was so great due to the kind of person she was. “Sylvia was very friendly, she loved people and loved being a part of special events in people’s lives,” she explained. “She was always one of the persons who was so exuberant about doing this or that .”
